“Indakan sa Kalye”: A Fusion of Street Dancing and Cultural Celebration

Multiple street dance groups showcased their talents along the streets encompassing the Immaculate Conception Parish Cathedral, Minor Basilica, and Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in the City of Malolos during the Indakan Sa Kalye 2023, which took place on Wednesday, September 13.

The dance competition, an integral part of the Singkaban Festival celebrations in the province, commenced at approximately 1 p.m. The competition featured several skilled dance troupes hailing from various locations, including the City of Malolos, Santa Maria, City of San Jose Del Monte, Guiguinto, and Angat. Each performance was intricately designed to highlight the diverse festivals held within the province.

Bulacan Governor, Daniel R. Fernando, conveyed his appreciation for the immense talent displayed by local artists from Bulacan and their significant contributions to preserving the province’s rich cultural heritage.

Fernando remarked, “Hayaan nating tayo’y maging inspired sa dedikasyon ng ating mga mananayaw at mang-aawit na panatilihin ang sining at kagandahan ng ating kultura, at sa pagpapayabong ng ating potensiyal bilang lalawigan,” emphasizing the need for us to draw inspiration from the dedication of our dancers and singers in preserving the arts and beauty of our culture, ultimately enhancing our province’s potential.

This historical milestone holds immense significance in the Philippines, as it marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s journey toward independence and self-determination. Sunkissed Lola, known for their hit songs, took center stage at the Singkaban Smart Con’s “Powered Up Youth’s Future” event on September 15, 2023, starting at 4:00 pm at the Bulacan Sports Complex in the city.

This band, boasting nearly 4.1 million monthly Spotify listeners, will be sharing the spotlight with Rhodessa, Jed Baruelo, and Maki, promising a night filled with music and entertainment for the youth of Bulacan.

In addition to this star-studded lineup, Bulacan’s very own talents, Lunarlights and The Wallblossoms, will grace the stage, adding to the excitement and diversity of the concert.

Governor Daniel R. Fernando extends a warm invitation to the youth of Bulacan, encouraging them to partake in a night of celebration and enjoyment that has been thoughtfully organized especially for them.

“Tara po at makiisa sa Singkaban Smart Con, isang libreng konsiyerto kasama ang mga trending na artists na hatid sa atin sa pakikipagtulungan ng Smart Communications,” exclaimed the governor, emphasizing the collaborative effort with Smart Communications to bring trending artists to the stage.

He also kindly reminded attendees not to bring umbrellas, cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vapes, backpacks, or sharp objects, as these items are not allowed within the concert grounds.

Following the concert, participants will be treated to a dazzling four-minute fireworks display by Dragon Fireworks as part of Pasiklab sa Singkaban, marking the grand finale of the weeklong celebration of Singkaban Festival 2023.

DuHaWis – Gerilya: Dugong Bayani banners 5TH Sineliksik Singkaban Festival Bulacan Docufest

The documentary titled “DuHaWis- Gerilya: Dugong Bayani” achieved remarkable success at the 5th SINEliksik Bulacan Docufest Gabi ng Parangal, which took place at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city on Tuesday night. The documentary not only won the Best Documentary award but also secured the Best Editing prize, earning both recognition and a cash prize of P120,000.

This winning film, a collaborative effort between CHACTC Productions and MRG Films, was skillfully directed and written by Ronaldo N. Dionisio. It places a spotlight on the heroism of the Meycaueño community, particularly the leaders of the guerrilla movement during World War II.

In his acceptance speech, Director Ronaldo N. Dionisio expressed his gratitude to the province for hosting such a prestigious competition that garners recognition throughout the Philippines. He underscored the unique value Bulacan places on the arts, culture, and history of the province, emphasizing its commitment to preserving these aspects.

Assistant Secretary for Strategic Assessment and International Affairs, Pablo M. Lorenzo, who represented Department of National Defense Secretary Atty. Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr., extended his heartfelt appreciation to all those who initiated, organized, participated in, and contributed to the contest, which sheds light on the real stories of World War II.
